One Way Around the School
It has been requested by parents parking on the Pre-school side to use Albert Drive as a one way. We would like to give this a try.
As of tomorrow, Friday 11 March 2011, we would ask that parents treat Albert Drive as a one way road and that you park diagonally, this will also give more room for everyone wishing to use this entrance.
We would also like to request that parents take care of their children when they get out of their cars and please respect each other and our neighbours. Please also note that this is not official so you need to be aware of other drivers who may not treat this as a one way. Remember normal traffic rules apply.
This should alleviate the traffic problems in the morning and afternoon.
Please follow the arrows (as set out on the map)

Important things to note:
PARKING OUTSIDE THE SCHOOL
Parents are reminded to use the designated parking bays when dropping and fetching children and not to block the flow of traffic by stopping in the road. Please also exercise extreme caution when reversing out. Please also take note of the Scholar Patrol lines as that is where all children should cross the road.
MESSAGES
As we do not have an intercom system, it is difficult to get late messages to the children before they go home in the afternoon. Could parents please ensure that, before leaving your child at school, they know where and who will be collecting them after school. Please also ensure that your child has a phone card. These are available from the office for R25.
HOME TIME
It is requested that parents do not wait outside their children’s classroom at home time as this disturbs the classes. Please meet your child at a pre-arranged place on the school grounds. The gates will only be opened at 12:50.
WAITING CLASS
All grade 1 – 3 learners are to go to waiting class if they are not fetched at 13:00. Waiting class runs from 13:00 to 13:30. No children will be allowed to wait at the gate during this time.
CLOTHING
Learners are requested not to share or lend out uniform items especially costumes. All children are to have their own PE clothes, costumes, swimming caps, towels and caps/hats.
Please ensure that all your child’s school clothing is marked. Lost property can be found in the two bins behind the Junior bathrooms or in the aftercare room.
NOTE: there are LOTS of items that are marked in the lost property bins.... please go check if your child's stuff is there.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION
All learners will be allowed to wear the correct PE uniform to school instead of their school uniform ONLY on the day they have PE. This is to reduce the time spent on getting dressed and to minimize the opportunity for clothing to go missing.
MONIES SENT TO SCHOOL
The office unfortunately does not keep change. All monies sent to school must be sent in a sealed envelope, clearly marked with your child’s name, class, what it is for and the amount.
MEDICATION
Parents are requested to please keep teachers and office staff informed about your child’s allergies or relevant medication that may be need. Children with severe allergies should keep medication in class or in their bags, eg epipens and asthma pumps. Alternatively your child’s medication can be kept in the office. It should be clearly marked with your child’s name and instructions on dosage. This could make a huge difference when a problem arises.

LAUNCHING THIS YEAR!
THE NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN SCHOOL YEARBOOK 2010
Exciting news! We are launching an annual, full-colour yearbook for Northwest Christian School, a high-quality glossy book that will feature every child in the school, as well as all the other events and activities that made 2010 a memorable year for NWCS.
With 80 full-colour pages produced by a professional editor and graphic designer, the Yearbook 2010 will be a high-quality reminder of each child’s school year.
We would like to invite parents who have small, medium and corporate businesses to make their businesses a part of the Northwest Christian community, by advertising within the publication.
As a family, you can also take a message for just R100 which will appear on a page in the yearbook.
But act soon because spaces are going fast. With limited ad spaces on offer, we are giving NWCS parents first priority, giving you first option on ad space until the end of August.
AD OPPORTUNITIES
- Sponsor the Learners section, or the Extra murals and Sport section (a full-page ad plus branding within the yearbook, including on the cover).
- Sponsor the “Signatures” page, on the inside back cover.
- Take a full-page ad on the inside front cover, and outside back cover.
- There are a limited number of half-page ads around the yearbook, with places still available with the class photos of Grades R, 1, 2, 6 and 7.
- Place your full-colour business card in the “Marketplace” section.
Contact Madelein Foreman-Campbell on 082-786-3801, or at madmad @ icon {dot} co {dot} za before the end of August 2010 to book your ad, request a ratecard or view the yearbook’s flatplan.

Ally Stark
It's hard to say goodbye and especially to such a dear sweet child.
At some of the birthday parties we went to
Alexandra Stark, known to us all as Ally. These are just a few of the pics I've taken of her over the last two years that I've gotten to know her.
At some of the birthday parties we went to
Ally's funeral will be held at 2pm on Thursday 29 October at Liberty Church, Cnr West & Hill Street in Ferndale.
Our heartfelt condolences, thoughts and prayers got to her whole family. This is not an easy time and thank you for allowing me to say goodbye in this way.
If you would also like to leave your message for the family, please just click on "comments" and write it on this post. We will forward them on to the family.
