Up Front Fees

UP-FRONT FEES – EXTENSION

The Financial Committee of the school would like to extend the date for up-front fees to the end of February 2013.

Our building is being paid for with an Access Bond.  This means the more cash reserves we have, the less interest we need to pay.

Most up-front payments will be used in this way until we need to draw on the funds for running the school.

If you are in the position to make an up-front payment and have not yet done so we would appreciate you considering this option.

EFT payments would be appreciated as the fees for credit card and cash payments would cancel out the benefits gained.

School Building Alterations

Good news! We are almost ready to start with the next phase of our new building and offices. The demolition of the old office block is due to start any day now.

The main entrance in Duke of York Drive will be closed until further notice. Please use the gate at the Grade R entrance (one way street) from now on and we urge all parents to drive and drop their children to alleviate congestion.

The gate at the top field will also be open before and after school. (7.15am to 8.00am and 1.00pm-1.45pm)

The office staff have relocated to the foyer outside Mr Norel's office, with the accounts department in the prefab next to the music room.  Mrs Walker's Grade 2 class is now in the staff room.

Please remember to use your access card to open the gate.

Welcome back

The new school year has started.  We hope that all the pupils are settled into their new classes and have made lots of friends.  Just in case you get lost or need to know where to find the classrooms now that everyone has been shuffled around, herewith the new school layout.

Class in progress

Thanks to Mr Mansfield for these great photos of the construction of the new classrooms

Up went the walls...

On went the roof and cutting the windows

In went the window frames

Making the veranda, putting on the doors

All nicely carpeted and painted

Ceilings in and lights fitted

And then the pupils moved in, decorated and now class is in session

Here too is a photo of the budding musicians learning the marimba (or xylophone)

We're expanding

You might have realised that we are being pushed for classroom space... well we are expanding.  Construction has started on 3 new classrooms... even in amongst all the rain we've had.

We will definitely keep you up to date on the progress.

Welcome back

The second term has started again today... welcome back to all pupils and teachers... hope you all had a good holiday and are ready to tackle a new term.

There were a couple of fairies busy around the school grounds while the rest of us were on holiday... there is new paving around the front gate area (where it always floods and turns to mud) as well as extended around the tree by the concrete table in the waiting area for parents. All I can say as a parent is... THANK YOU.... this will definately make our lives a bit easier (and less muddy!).

Don't forget the AGM coming up next week.

Kitchen upgrade

Have you seen the smart new kitchen.... wow the PTA really has gone all out and given the teachers and staff a fantastic kitchen now. It's all done and fully functional.

Did you notice all the little touches? Tea, coffee, sugar pots, green dishtowels, the microwave, a place for the photocopier plus a work surface to sort stuff out on, baskets to put goodies into, cupboards full of glasses and mugs, little green plants here and there. Such nice springy feeling.

Scenes from an early morning at school

The new playground equipment is officially open for use. And it is safe to say "The kids love it!" Thanks to all involved for their hard work in making this a reality.

At assembly this morning the children were treated to a delightful surprise.... a puppet show. Actually it was RUFUS and TESSA coming to remind the children about the Swim-A-Thon forms (money to be in by 13th March) and the Picnic Under the Stars on Friday 6th March.

Just a glimpse into your child's every day life at school.

The flood

Last week we experienced quite a lot of rain and even a flood or two at school.... here are some photos from one of the Grade 0 parents, Jenny Anderson.

Please remember, if you have any school related photos that you want posted, please email them to northwestchristianschool {@} gmail {dot} com and we will gladly publish them. This blog is for all pupils and parents to keep in touch with what is happening at our school.

Have you seen this view?

These photos were taken at the camp out last year (31 October 2008) and give you a good "bird's eye view" of our school.

Now you can definately find your way around without getting lost.
